Confluence Queens will look to continue their good form in the Nigeria Women Premier League on Saturday when they travel to Surulere to face FC Robo Queens.
Both sides will clash at the Legacy Pitch. Kickoff is 2pm.
The Lokoja based side maintained their impressive start to the 2015/16 top flight season with a slim 1-0 victory against Adamawa Queens last weekend, but coach Shola Adewuyi was particularly concerned with the wastefulness of his girls in the win.
Confluence Queens currently sit 3rd in the Group B table with four points from two games. They drew their first match against Sunshine Queens in Akure.
Adewuyi will be without young winger Mariam Aluko, who is yet to fully recover from an injury she sustained in training.
He has named Bukola Awolusi, Seun Atanda, Mary Saiki, Ruth Sunday, Bola Oladiti, Mercy Idoko and player of the month Seun Bello in the squad.
Bashirat Amoo is also available for selection after her impressive contribution in the game against Adamawa Queens.
“We have a mission to accomplish in Lagos which is to get a positive result. The girls are aware of the task that awaits them,” Shola Adewuyi told Confluence Queens Media.
Skipper of the home side, Rasheedat Ajibade is a player that performs when the chips are down. She is a tough customer when she is at her best.
The Nigeria U17 captain will play alongside the fearless Chidinma Okeke and Alaba Folajomi upfront.
The midfield will have free-kick specialist Amirat Adebisi and talented Esther Ndubuisi, while the experienced Maria Oke and Mabokanje Fehintola will hold forth at the back.
“My girls are fired up for the game. We don’t want to settle for less,” proprietor of FC Robo Queens Emmanuel Osahan said.
In the previous meeting between the two sides at the Legacy Pitch in 2013, FC Robo won 1-0 thanks to Rasheedat Ajibade’s 77th minute screamer.
