Federal University Lokoja to join NUGA Games in 2015 – VC

The Vice Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja Professor Abdulmumini Hassan Rafindadi has said that the university will be participating at the Nigeria University Games come 2015.
The VC of the University, Rafindadi disclosed this exclusively to SavidNews at the end of the 2nd Edition of the Inter-Faculty Games at the University sports ground in Lokoja.
Professor Rafindadi said that the University plan to participate in four sports events at the 2015 NUGA games as well as make an observer’s appearance at this year’s edition in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife which kicks-off this weekend.
He explained that the purpose of the competition is to grown and discover athletes with potentials in view of its participation in universities games.
Rafindadi commended the organising committee of the University for the Successful Competition and promising a better outing in next year’s edition.
Meanwhile, the winning goal scorer and Captain of Geology department, Daniel Ugbede Emmanuel expressed delight at been instrumental in his side’s victory.
Daniel declared that the University will perform well in the 2015 NUGA Games while underlining the huge sports potentials that abound in the University.
Outcome of the games saw the Department of Geology defeat their counterparts from Physics in the football event while in athletes, Chemistry department scooped three Golds in female 100m, male 4x100m, female 200m races.
History department won Gold in the male 400m while in the male 100m saw Geology emerged victorious.
Faculty of Sciences won Gold in Basketball and Volleyball defeating Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in both events, while in Badminton Arts and Social Sciences thumped the Sciences.
Five sports namely Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Athletics and Badminton were featured this year, against only football that was organized in the maiden edition in 2013 in which Chemistry department won.
