FG urged to support observance of Child Rights Law
As the world marks the 44th Anniversary of the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of Children, the attention of the Nigerian Government has been drawn to the numerous problems confronting children in the country.
The founder of ‘Erudite International Children School,’ Kehinde Ojuawo while making the call recently, noted that Nigerian children are exposed to the activities of hoodlums, rapists, kidnappers and terrorists who kill them recklessly.
He also identified the challenges confronting children to be child abuse, rape, child labour, child prostitution and trafficking, among others. He frowned at the way in which terrorists kill and kidnap children in schools, churches and mosques and enjoined the government at all levels to enact the ‘Child Rights Law’ that would protect children against abuses such as rape, child labour and trafficking.
