The Nigeria’s women U17 national team has been rewarded with a cash of ten thousand naira following their second round 9-0 aggregate victory against Namibia, SavidNews can authoritatively report.

The Flamingoes pounded the Baby Gladiators 5-0 in Windoek last Friday to set up a final round clash with South Africa after they initially thrashed the Namibians 4-0 in Abuja.

Though it’s what the cash reward was specifically meant for, SavidNews learnt that the funds was doled out as compensation and transport fare for the players.

Interestingly, SavidNews gathered from a top Namibian source that the Baby Gladiators received $4,500 Namibian Dollars for bowing out of the qualifiers after defeat against Nigeria.

However, top source informed that Amaju Pinnick, the NFF President had told the Flamingoes after their home victory against Namibia that it was reviewing pattern of game compensations to the age grade national teams.

It recalled that the NFF President announced on a TV show that his board in its new policy will not play match bonuses to players and officials of various age grade national teams.

Affected teams are the U20, U17 of the male and women national teams.

Asked about the bonus scrapping policy initiated by Pinnick, the NFF secretary general, Mohammed Sanusi denied any knowledge and has appealed more clarification be sought from the NFF president.

“I’m (Sanusi) not the policy maker. My own is implementation. You said the president of the Nigeria football Federation said, it’s better you ask him (Amaju Pinnick),” he said.

Meanwhile, the team are expected to resumed preparations on February 7 ahead of the final qualifying round match against South Africa in March.
