Already, residents of the affected settlements have relocated to higher grounds as they await directives from the state government.

Among the communities abandoned by restive villagers are Adankolo, Gadumo and Ganaja and those residing on the island opposite Kabawa area of the state capital.

A victim of the flooding from the river in Ganaja, Mr. Jimoh Nuhu, said the river had kept increasing in volume, with high current daily, adding that when the family could not bear it any more, they packed to a higher ground to avoid loss of lives and property.
