Gambo Mohammed stun Enyimba for Kano Pillars in Kaduna

Kano Pillars secured a late narrow 1-0 win over Enyimba through long-absentee Gambo Muhammed in a Week 17 game of the Nigeria Professional Football League played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Sunday.

Mohammed Gambo scored in 93rd minute, after turning and converting a nice flick from Haruna Musa past Enyimba’s Femi Thomas to score the only goal of the game to save the Sai Masu Gida’s blushes with the only goal of the match in the dying moments of the second half.

It appeared as if the game was heading towards a goalless draw before the decisive goal from the CHAN Eagles’ star which broke the Peoples Elephants hearts at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

The league’s defending champions are fast waking up from their tough start to the season as they now have 25 points from 16 matches.

Enyimba are on 25 points and will play the next two league fixtures against Gombe United and Giwa FC at Aba, while Kano Pillars will hosts Sharks, Dolphins and Bayelsa United in Kano.

They are in strong contention to finish the first stanza in the top three if they beat these two teams this week.

The goal was however met with riotous celebrations from the home fans who stormed into the pitch to celebrate the goal.

Article 13 (18) of the rules governing the League forbid supporters, players or officials from encroaching into the field of play during a match. With punishment ranging from fines to outright banishment spelt out in rules.

A similar event occurred in Kano Pillars Week 15 game against El Kanemi which they won 2-1, but there were no sanctions or warning.

The League Management Company (LMC) is yet to react to the development.
