Speaking on the first anniversary of leading Nigeria to a record fourth Under-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, Garba said it was about time he sounded out a reminder to the amiable Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State and his Niger State counterpart, Babangida Aliyu, saying the players as well as the officials would be eternally grateful if the gifts are delivered as promised.

“Once again, I want to thank Governor Imoke and the Chief Servant for their moral and financial support to us when we won the World Cup last year but I want to use this opportunity to remind them of the house gifts and landed properties to us,” said Garba.

He said the rank and file of the team made up of 21 players and 10 0fficials are patiently waiting for the day the generous pledges made by the Excellences would be fulfilled before the expiration of their term in 2015.

“Though we have had assurances, I just want to remind our amiable governors that we are still waiting for these gifts,” maintained Garba.

“Giving us these gifts would go a long way to motivate others coming behind to do their best for the country and we would forever be grateful.”
