The recent re-admission of the two privately owned premier league club sides Giwa Fc of Jos and Nembe City of Bayelsa into the Glo premier League has been described as a welcomed development as well as a big plus to the club owners Association in Nigeria.
Reacting to the recall of the two teams earlier excluded for an alleged non compliance with registration requirements, the Acting Secretary of the Club Owners Alloy Chukwuemeka told journalists in Ilorin Monday that the entire club owners were very much excited on the development.
He said that the club Owners were involved in series of consultations and mediations in solidarity with the two member-clubs and as such were very happy to see that they have returned to the league.
Chukwuemeka on behalf of the club owners commended the Aminu Maigari led leadership of the NFF, the Hon. Minister and chairman NSC Tamuno Danagogo, National Assembly committees on Sports, the sporting Media, LMC and other stakeholders who made valuable contributions in resolving the issue.
According to him ” we at club owners are very much excited with this development and I must say it is a victory for the entire league system. You are aware of the interventions we made in solidarity with the two clubs that are our members, through consultations, so we are happy for their re-admission”
“As a responsible and responsive leadership, we will continue to advocate peaceful resolution of issues using all the available dispute resolution mechanism within the sports sector in adherence with the relevant status and extant Laws of football as approved by FIFA” he said
He added that the club owners would soon meet in Abuja to discuss other issues concerning the Association, most importantly the recent appointment of the NFF electoral committee in readiness for elections into the executive committee and the boards of all the affiliate Leagues.
