The League Management Company (LMC) has insisted that matches in the ongoing 2013/14 Glo Nigeria Premier League will hold as scheduled this weekend despite rumours of a Court order in Jos stopping the league.
The LMC said in a statement to Goal that the three matches billed for Thursday should go ahead, describing the court order stopping the league as mere rumour.
“We have received several enquiries concerning a rumour spreading that there is a Court order stopping the League. We wish to clarify that we are not aware of any such Court order and will seek appropriate legal advice from our lawyers concerning this rumour,” the LMC’s media manager, Harry Iwala said.
It also assured that “all the participating Clubs, Referees, Match Commissioners, fans and all other stakeholders that the scheduled fixtures for the Nigeria Professional Football League (Glo Premier League) will hold as scheduled”.
Earlier, a Federal High Court sitting in Jos ordered that the Nigerian apex league be put on hold following a law suit instituted in the Tin City by a stakeholder calling for the LMC to rescind its decision to ban Giwa FC and Nembe FC from participating in the Glo Nigeria Premier League.
