Golden Eaglets face Mali & Niger in U17 WAFU Cup

Nigeria national U17 football team have been pooled in Group B of the 2014 West African Football Union (WAFU) championship to hold between April 19 and 27 in Togo.
The Golden Eaglets will be facing Mali and Niger while Group A has hosts Togo, Benin Republic and the Baby Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire pooled together.
Coach Amuneke is expected to reel out a 30-man team for the tourney which will put his boys in proper shape as they face either Burundi or Congo DR in August for the Niger 2015 African U17 Championship which serves as qualifiers for the Fifa U17 World Cup that will take place in Chile.
The Nigeria Football Federation recently announced that selected players in the Golden Eaglets will be subjected to the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) test before they can be eligible to represent the country.
Nigeria defeated Niger 11-1 and Mali 4-0 on aggregate respectively to secure a place at the 2013 African Cadet Championship in Morocco where the Garba Manu boys finished as runners-up after losing the final to Cote d’Ivoire on penalties.
