Gombe United captain Sani Madu assured his side will come back stronger this weekend against Sunshine Stars.

He believes his side was unlucky in their 0-0 home draw against Plateau United at Pantami Stadium on Wednesday.

Latest draw is the second in three straight home matches, and Madu blamed fatigue for their inability to record a home win as well as the visitors’ defensive game plan.

“We played well but the game didn’t see us emerge victorious,” Madu told SavidNews.

“Plateau United attacked us very well, and that because they have not lost in last three games, they came with a defensive strategy.

“In the attack, we had several chances but we could not utilized them.

“Fatigue also affected our players. We only arrived late on Monday after a long journey from Calabar.

“We were only able to train 24 hours to the [Plateau] match. But we really played well even though we were not lucky not to win.

“On Sunday, we have another match and we want to plead with Gombe United fans to remain patience with us.

“It is not our wish to draw the match because when we win – we will get a winning bonus and put smiles on their faces.

“We promised to come out strong in our next match and ensure we win the match to make the fans happy.”

The Savannah Scorpions who are currently 16th on the standings with five points from four games will next hosts Sunshine Stars on Sunday.
