Gombe Utd allege Giwa FC fans pre-match assault

Gombe United have complained about the threats and intimidation they suffered in Jos in Sunday when they lost 1-0 to Giwa FC in a Week 13 game of the Glo Premier League.
The complaint was made by, Tanimu Umar, the Media Officer of the Desert Scorpions, who informed that fans of Giwa FC made violent threats to intimidate the match officials during the pre-match meeting in the morning of the game.

“Even before we get into the field the fans were threatening to kill the centre referee should they not win the game.

“Some of them were brandishing knives to augment their threat,” KickoffNigeria quoted Umar as complained.

There were however no notable violent scenes both during and after the game, and an early goal from Banangida Hassan gave the hosts a deserved 1-0 win.
