Gov Wada Re-assures on Quality Service Delivery, Good Governance

Kogi State Governor Capt Idris wada has restated his commitment to correct conduct, probity, transparency and good governance.

Capt Wada stated this at the Nigerian Bar Association,Lokoja Chapter end of the year dinner and reception in honour of all Senior Advocates of Nigeria SAN,who are of Kogi State extraction.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy,Yomi Awoniyi,said his foray into politics was driven by integrity,assured that his administration will be guided by best conduct at all times and open to scrutiny.

Capt Wada felicitated with those recently honoured as SAN from the state, assured of a working partnership between the executives and all other arms of government in the State.

The Governor called on those elevated to continue to serve as shining examples in the legal profession,assured that his administration will continue to hold tenaciously as well as remain resolute to the transformation agenda it has set for the development of the State.

In his remarks,Justice Nasir Ajanah,Chief Judge of Kogi State,represented by Justice Henry Olusuyi,described the working relationship existing between the Bar and the Bench as cordial in State.

He however called for the granting of financial autonomy to the state Judiciary.
This the Chief Judge noted will enable the quick and independent dispensation of justice in the state.

He also disclosed that measures has been put in pace to fast track dispensation of justice in the state next year.

He called on the bar to key into the new initiative.

Also speaking,Okey Wali,SAN and president of the NBA,represented by J.S Okutepa,SAN,said it is heartwarming to note that

Kogi State has produced eighteen SAN,urged those in the Bar from the state to strive for integrity and take the issue of discipline seriously.

In his remarks,Chief Adegboyega Awomolo SAN,who chaired the occasion,encouraged up coming lawyers to show attention to character and reputation.

He described lawyers as conscience of the nation and servant of the people,urged them to hold on to integrity and honour that is associated with the Bar and commended the cordial,respectful and fruitful relationship exiting between the Bar and the Bench in the state.

Earlier in his speech,J. A Akubo,NBA Chairman Lokoja branch,said the occasion was put together to honour indigenes of the state who have excelled in the Bar and to appreciate Joe Abraham,Victoria Awomolo and A.M. Aliyu who were recently elevated to the rank of SAN,adding that the state has the highest number of SAN in the whole of Northern Nigeria.

Highlights of the occasion was the presentation of awards to those who have contributed to the dispensation of justice.
