Gov Wada sets-up 9-man committee over Okun People’s complaints

Kogi state Governor, Captain Idris Wada has inaugurated a nine-man committee headed by the Deputy Governor of the state, Architect Yomi Awoniyi to look into the complaints raised by the Okun Development Association alleging marginalization, deprivation and underdevelopment of Okunland in the state.

Governor Wada in his inauguration speech reiterated the commitment of his administration towards the promotion of justice, equity and fair play in the distribution of dividends of democracy, state resources and appointments into political and civil services.

The Governor named the terms of reference for the committee as follows: to examine, review and articulate the distribution of amenities and infrastructure in the three Senatorial District of the state, to look into the distribution of appointments both political and civil service in the areas of lopsidedness as well as distribution and allocation of staff carders in all the tertiary institutions across the state.

The committee is also mandated to examine and proper solution to the issue of “excruciating and pervading poverty” in Okunland by extension all the three Senatorial districts in the state with a view to promoting the advancement and socio-economic development of the entire citizens of the state.

The committee which was given two weeks to complete its assignment has the Deputy Governor of the state, Architect Yomi Awoniyi as Chairman.

Other members of the committee includes Yahaya Agbenyo, Dr. Moses Atakpa, Joseph Daniel, Taliban Rajiv, Steven Olorunfemi, Steven Yakubu, Tunde Arosoyan and Esikiel Obayemi, the Permanent Secretary Administration in the office of the state deputy governor will serve as secretary to the committee.

Responding, the Chairman of the committee Arch Yomi Awoniyi thanked the governor for considering them to serve in the justice finding mission and promised that they will live above board.
