Health Foundation urges Kogi People on Free Eye Treatment

The founder and chairman of Asmau Foundation, Sanusi Abubakar, has called on the people of Kogi state to take advantage of the ongoing free eye medical care at the general hospital Okene, the central district of Kogi state.eye treatment

Abubakar who stated this yesterday while inspecting the progress of the 7th edition of free Eye Healthcare medical intervention, said that the Foundation was passionate about the sight of the people hence the introduction of the yearly free eye treatment.

Enumerating the achievements of the Asmau Foundation since 2006, the chairman noted that the general hospital Okene was given total rehabilitation by the foundation, in collaboration with the state government.

According to him similar intervention has been made in other health sector and appealed to the Kogi state governor, Captain Idris wada to reverting the Obangede General Hospital in Okehi council area to its Specialist status.

“Let me use this opportunity call on the Governor of his to revert the Obangede General Hospital back to its specialist status.

He maintained that the reversion of the hospital to its original status of a specialist hospital will do the people of the area a lot of good as complex medical problems can be undertaken there.

The chairman stressed the need for corporate organizations and private individuals to support the government by providing interventions in qualitative healthcare delivery and poverty reduction.

Speaking also the leader of the medical team, Dr. Taoheed Abdullahi, said the foundation eye care outreach has so far treated a total of 12,000 patients of different eye medical condition

He commended the foresight of the chairman of the foundation, describing the turn out at any of the foundation’s eye care treatment as very impressive.
