Heartland FC were back to winning ways courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Akwa United on Saturday.
Goals from substitute Omo Johnson and Chinedu Efugh secured all three points for Heartland at the Dan Anyiam Stadium.
The Naze Millionaires showed promising signs in the first half but they failed to score.
Former Kano Pillars forward Johnson was introduced early in the second half, to add bite to the blunt attack of the hosts and it was a decision that paid off.
Johnson opened the scoring in the 61st minute. The skillful player broke free on goal and the former Dolphins attacker took a few touches before slipping the ball beyond Victor Obiowo.
The home side were deserved 2-0 leaders in the 84th minute thanks to Chinedu Efugh’s goal.
Heartland are 17th on the log with 26 points while Akwa United are 7th with 32 points.
