Heartland appoints Kelechi Emeteole as Technical Adviser

Heartland have recruited Kelechi Emeteole to their backroom staff as the new technical adviser of the Nigerian Premier League (NPL) outfit.
Cajetan Nkwopara, an official of the club confirmed the appointment to Goal,says they Naze Millionaires official , who explained that the man fondly known as ‘Caterpillar’ was brought in to plough back his vast experience into the local game.
“As part of the ongoing effort to reposition the team for the upcoming season the management has decided to appoint a ‘seasoned hand’ coach Kelechi Emeteole as the side new technical adviser,” Nkwopara told SuperSport.
“The appointment is with immediate effect,” he confirmed.
Emeteole has a rich history that dates back to the 80’s when the club was founded under the name Spartans, and again at a later stage after they were renamed Iwuanyanwu Nationale.
He was the man in charge when the side made their only CAF Champions League final back in 2009, losing on away goals to TP Mazembe.
Fondly called ‘Caterpillar’ by his fans, Emeteole had taken Heartland to the final of the Caf Champions League in 2009 where they lost on the away goal rule to DR Congo’s TP Mazembe.
Emeteole also headed the Naze Millionaires technical bench both in 1998 and 2001 when they were known as Iwuanyanwu Nationale and 1985 when the side were called Spartans.
In 2012 Emeteole guided El-Kanemi Warriors to gain promotion back to the Premier League.
