HOS wants Private Sector more in FG Transformation Agenda

fgThe Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji has called on the private sector in Nigeria to get more actively involved in the implementation of the Transformation Agenda of the Federal Government.

The Head of Service said this when a delegation of the Executive Council of the Institute of Directors (IOD), Nigeria, led by its President and Chairman of Council, Chief (Mrs.) Eniola Fadayomi paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.

Alhaji Goni Aji explained that the main aim of the Transformation Agenda was to effectively change the country’s economy into one that is private sector driven, create wealth and general employment opportunities for our teeming youth.

He said further that the civil service is willing to cooperate with well-meaning organizations such as the Institute of Directors particularly in the areas of capacity development and integrity building. He informed the delegation that his Office has initiated a Public/Private Sector Staff Exchange Programme aimed at experience sharing and the building of mutual understanding between two sectors.

Earlier in her address, the IOD President, Mrs. Eniola Fadayomi said that the mission of the organization is the entrenchment of good corporate governance in work places through leadership training.

She also informed the Head of Service about the international affiliations of the Institute, particularly the recent approach on the African continent which has opened up new networking opportunities for members. She called for the enrolment of top echelon officers in the Federal Civil Service as members of the Institute as a way of improving the relationship between public and private sectors administrators in Nigeria.
