IBB Golf Club’s New Captain Pledges Year of Innovation and Eco-Leadership
Ibrahim A Babayo, the newly elected Captain of the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, is poised to usher in a period of remarkable growth in golfing events during his 12-month tenure.
Speaking while receiving the Executive members of the Bar and Bench Golf Association led by its Chairman, Justice Mudashiru Oniyangi, Babayo said his administration will organize golf events every month both for the Amateurs and the Pros.
“We will organize golf events every month for both Amateurs and Pros,” Babayo affirmed while receiving the Executive members of the Bar and Bench Golf Association led by its Chairman, Justice Mudashiru Oniyangi.
Babayo, elected during the 2024 Annual General Meeting at the Clubhouse last weekend, aims for radical improvements within the club and on the course.
“We will be committed to ensuring proper hygiene within and around the club premises,” Babayo stated.
“We will also enforce a zero-tolerance policy towards plastic waste, affirming our dedication to environmental stewardship. Henceforth, all members are our environmental police to ensure strict compliance with waste disposal at designated spaces, whether on the course, clubhouse, or club premises.”
Acknowledging the need to diversify revenue streams beyond membership fees, Babayo outlined plans to explore strategic partnerships with the public and private sectors to enhance infrastructure, facilities, and services.
“We will explore avenues for strategic partnerships with both the public and private sectors,” he said. “Leveraging on our existing relationships, we aim to attract corporate sponsors and sponsorship.”
Babayo, elected unopposed after serving as the immediate past Vice Captain under Dr. Banjo Obaleye, leads a new executive team poised to pilot the affairs of the club for the next year.
Vice Captain James Eromosele Agbonhese, who defeated two other candidates, joins Babayo as part of the new leadership.
Other appointments include Dame Julie Donli as Lady Captain, Bolarin Aliyu-Faniyan as Honourable Secretary, Gabriel Aremu as Treasurer, Niyi Laoye as House and Maintenance Officer, Dr. Olanrewaju Phillips as Social and Welfare Officer, and Babatunde Aremu Ojerinde as Course Officer.
