Idah face Omala in Kogi FOSLA U13 Cup final on January 1

Everything is set for the final of the Kogi 2015 FOSLA U13 Cup as Idah face their counterparts from Omala on Thursday January 1st, 2015 in Idah, Kogi state.

Hosts Idah and Omala reached the finals after scaling through the earlier stages of football championship played at Kogi State University (KSU) stadium, Anyingba.

Idah advanced after they secured a 4-1 and 3-1 victories over Bassa and Dekina in the quarter and semi-final respectively in the nine-team knockout competition.

Second finalists, Omala defeated Olamaboro 3-0 in the quarter-final before they edged out Cup holders Ofu with a hard fought 3-2 semi-final victory.

The annual tournament sponsored by former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi sees 10 selected exceptional players handed scholarship award worth 10million naira apiece into FOSLA Academy, with five each from Kogi and Abuja zones.

This year’s edition of the annual FOSLA Academy age grade football championship attracted at least 100 young in-school players from across the Eastern district of the state.

Ofu are the defending championship after they defeated hosts Ibaji 1-0 in the final played on January 1st, 2014.
