If anything happens to Peter Obi, APC and Keyamo will be held responsible – Group

Concerned elders from across the country have vowed to hold the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, accountable if anything happens to Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

To that end, the Conference of Nigerian Elders for Peace and Good Governance (CNEPGG) encouraged President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC, to rein in the minister over the assassination accusation against Obi.

Remember how Keyamo alleged Obi was plotting an assassination attempt to gain sympathy ahead of the 2023 election?

The elders condemned Keyamo’s assertion, saying it may be exactly what is being planned against Obi.

The concerned elders instructed relevant security agencies to invite Keyamo for questioning immediately in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Prof Dele Banjo, and Mallam Hamza Shinkafi, National Secretary.

“We believe that inviting Mr. Festus Keyamo, Minister of Labour and Employment, would allow him to produce evidence on his accusation that the LP presidential candidate, a guy so beloved by many, was organising an assassination attempt.”

“We warn that if anything happens to our precious son, Obi, Keyamo and his party would be held accountable, especially because many concerned Nigerians believe it is what they planned, minister conveyed in a different way.”

The elders urged politicians and their supporters to observe the rules, adding that at the end of the day, only one person will be elected President of Nigeria.

They warned that Nigeria’s interests should take precedence over personal ambitions since Nigeria will outlive them all.

It added: “Our attention was drawn to a very shocking and embarrassing statement made by a supposed Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Barr Festus Keyamo, one of the spokesmen of the APC presidential candidate, that the peoples’ candidate, the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, is arranging for his own attempted assassination to give APC, a bad name.

“We say nothing can be funnier and more desperate than this statement because it is an established fact that desperation is the slogan, and identity of the APC presidential candidate and his team.

“We are, however, worried that this false claim by Keyamo may just be exactly what his party may be plotting against the popular Presidential candidate of LP, and by the special grace of God, has the support of millions of Nigerian voters.

“It is critical to send this message to those who could be conspiring against Obi: touch the LP candidate, and you will feel the resolve of the nation’s teeming youth population across ethnic, religious, and other boundaries.”

“In any event, no amount of desperation by Keyamo and his APC cronies will reverse the direction of the majority of votes cast in the 2023 presidential election.”

“In unison, Nigerians have consented to give their youthful presidential candidate an opportunity to reorient and refocus Nigeria on the portion of prosperity and greatness that has continued to elude it as a consequence of corruption, maladministration, and incompetence on the part of previous and present leaders.”
