Nasarawa United midfielder Esosa Igbinoba has climbed to the top of the goal scorer table in the race for the 2014/2015 Rashidi Yekini golden boot award with 14 goals.
Igbinoba netted his 14th goal of the season in what turned out a match winner as the Solid Miners grabbed a narrow 1-0 win against Enugu Rangers in a Week 30 encounter played at the Lafia Township Stadium.
His goal on Sunday was his fifth in last five matches and has placed him above of Sunshine Stars striker Tunde Adeniji and Heartland Bright Ejike who boast of 13 and 12 goals respectively.
While Tony Okpotu (Lobi Stars), Gbolahan Salami (Warri Wolves), Mubarak Umar (Wikki Tourists) are some of the other players that are battling to wrestle the award. They have scored 10 goals each this season.
The former Lobi Stars midfielder will have to sustain his impressive scoring exploit in the second half of the season to out-do his close-rivals in Adeniji and Ejike.
He will also have to score 10 more goals in the last eight league games of the season to smash last season 23 league goals record of Enyimba’s Mfon Udoh and set his own new record.
