Ijumu Lawmaker Refutes Kogi Speaker Impeachmet Plot

Newspaper reports on perceived imminent threat to impeach the speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Momoh Jimoh Lawal has been described by the Minority Leader of the House, Hon. (Engr) Yori Afolabi as a ruse, baseless and an imagination that has no foundation.

According to the Lawmaker, he was not aware of any plan by the House to impeach the Speaker or effect any change in the leadership of the House.

He urged the people of the State to disregard the newspapers reports adding that the primary pre-occupation of the House is how to legislate on matters that will have positive and direct impacts on the lives of the people of the State.

In a similar vein, the member representing Kabba/Bunu Constituency in the House, Hon.(Dr.) Nathaniel Taiwo in a recent interview with The Graphic debunked rumours as unfounded of any plan to effect change in the leadership of the House.

According to him, there is no rift in the House or plan to change the speaker, Rt. Hon. Momoh jimoh describing him as a transparent leader whose performance is not in doubt.

Hon Taiwo said ,’’if there is any problem in the House, members will iron it out among themselves and anybody that conceives the idea of impeachment, is a figment of their imagination.’’

He concluded by commending the Speaker for doing well and performing to expectations adding that the House is solidly behind him.
