The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Wednesday annnounced that it will deploy 21,947 personnel for the conduct of the Kogi and Bayelsa States governorship elections scheduled for November 21 and December 5, 2015 respectively.
The commission in a statement in Abuja, said it would deploy 12,120 officers for the Kogi governorship election, while it would send 9,827 officers for the Bayelsa governorship election.
On personnel deployed for Kogi, INEC listed that: “Returning Officer (one), LGA Collation Officers (21), Registration Area Collation Officers (239), Supervisory Presiding Officers (255), Presiding officers, who are members of the National Youth Corp Members ( 2,548), Assistant Presiding Officers (I,II, and III) (7,644) and Assistant Presiding Officers (883)”.
Others are Reserve APOs (5 per cent ) of APOs (NYSC) (426), LGA Supervisors plus Head Quarters 1 Reserve (22), Registration Area Cluster Supervisors and HQ 1 Reserve (80) and Constituency Supervisor (one).
Similarly, the alloted personnel for the Bayelsa are “Returning Officer (one), LGA Collation Officers (eight), Registration Area Collation Officers (105), Supervisory Presiding Officers (180), Presiding officers, who are NYSC members (1,804) and Assistant Presiding Officers (I,II, and III) (5,412).
Others are Assistant Presiding Officers (1,931), Reserve APOs (five percent of APOs (NYSC) (271), LGA Supervisors plus Head Quarters One Reserve (nine), Registration Area Supervisors plus Head Quarters One Reserve ( 106).
Meanwhile, the commission also announced that it would commence distribution of Permanent Voter Cards in Kogi State on Friday and in Bayelsa on Friday 13th of November.
According to INEC, the exercise in Kogi is scheduled for Friday, 6th November to Wednesday 11th November, while the PVC distribution exercise for Bayelsa is scheduled for 13th to 19th November, 2015.
It added that the distribution of PVCs in both states would commence at 8am daily and end at 4pm at the ward level.
