INEC fixes 2015 Presidential Elections on Valentine’s Day

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released a timetable for the 2015 elections as well as the forthcoming governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun state.

According to the timetable released Friday night, the Ekiti governorship election is the first election and will hold June 21, 2014 while the Osun state governorship election is fixed for August 9, 2014.

The tenure of Ekiti state governor expires on October 15, 2014.

The timetable also indicates that the presidential and national assembly would hold on February 14, 2015 while governorship and state assembly elections will follow in Feb 28, 2015.

The commission says “An election to the said office of the President (as applicable to all offices) shall be held on a date not earlier than 150 days and not later than 30 days before the expiration of the term of office of the last holder of that office.”
