Ivory Coast 2013: Nigeria’s D’Tigers Depart for 2013 AfroBasket

After the training camps in Abuja, Los Angeles and Orlando and the Stankovic tournament tour of China, the national men’s basketball team (D’Tigers) have departed for Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire where they will play in the 2013 edition of the FIBA Afrobasket.

The tournament will be hosted by the Ivory Coast from August 20 to 31.

There sixteen teams in the tournament and they are split into four groups.

Every team advances to the knockout stage and participates at the Round if 16.

The winners will advance to the quarterfinals to play out the champion.

The losers from those quarterfinals will play for the places 5–8.

The defeated teams from the round of 16 will be ranked by their preliminary round results and play placement games for the places 9–16.

Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo and Mali are housed in Group D and play their opening games on Wednesday the 21st of August.
