John Utaka nets brace for Sivasspor

Nigeria’s John Utaka scored two goals for Sivasspor in their 3-1 defeat of Akhisar Belediye Genclik Ve Spor in the Turkish Super League played at the Eylül Stadyumu on Sunday evening.

His strikes in the 64th and 80th minute ensured Roberto Carlos’ men bounce back from a goal down to grab maximum points.

Kerim Zengin gave Akhisar the lead in the 59th minute despite playing one man down as Wato Kuate was given the marching order six minutes earlier.

Utaka pulled his side on level terms five minutes later and got his second in the 80th minute before Aatif Chahechouhe put the game beyond the reach of the visitors in the closing stages of the tension soaked game.

The 32-year old striker was replaced by Aatif Chahechouhe in the 90th minute to the applause of the home fans.

Sivasspor are now ranked fourth on the Turkish Super Lig log with 53 points from 33 games.
