Katsina Inaugurates Factional “New PDP” Body

The Abubakar Kawu Baraje led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) better known as ‘new PDP’ has finally emerged in Katsina with a promise to open an office in the state capital.

Chairman of the New PDP in Katsina, Alhaji Bala Saulawa, told our correspondent yesterday that the new PDP was formed in Katsina to correct the shortcomings of the Governor Ibrahim Shema-led administration and to strengthen internal the democracy in the state.

Saulawa explained that members of the new PDP in Katsina are founders of the PDP in state so cannot fold their hands and watch few individuals in government scuttling its ideologies for their political interests.

He said the Katsina new PDP held its first meeting in the capital yesterday.

“We are aware of government’s plans to scuttle the emergence of the new PDP in Katsina but here we are. Politics is all about opinion and every Nigerian is entitled to his opinion. We have formed the new PDP to bring change in Katsina politics,” he said.

He said being members of the PDP does not mean they should not advise leaders in the state on how to move the party and the state to greater heights.

“No matter the strategy government will adopt to scuttle the existence of new PDP in the state the faction will thrive in Katsina. Look at how it emerged at the national level and how it is gaining ground, it is just a matter of time, the new PDP will come up in full force in Katsina,” he said.
Alhaji Saulawa promised that the faction will soon open an office in the state before embarking on mobilization of followers
In a swift reaction, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Alhaji Rabi’u Gambo Bakor said those that have formed the new PDP in the state were driven by mischief while they are the greatest beneficiaries of the PDP government in Katsina State.
