Keshi admits Super Eagles assistant, Okpala miss

Super Eagles chief coach, Stephen Keshi has denied reports making the rounds on the return of former assistant coach, Slyvanus Okpala to the Super Eagles.

Keshi, who was speaking to journalists ahead of the Super Eagles return leg trip to Abidjan against Ivory Coast denied, noted that it was the team’s desire to have Okpala back with the great passion he has shown for the game.

“If Okpala is back you should have seen him here – I hope so and I hope it’s going to be soon because he is part of the team and he is someone who works very hard just like every one of us here.

“He has much passion for the game. It’s a shame that he is not here. But we will try to make them see we need him and if he is going to be back it is going to be very good news for us,” he said.

It would be recalled that Coach Slyvanus Okpala was a member of the Stephen Keshi led Super Eagles technical crew to the South Africa 2013 Africa Cup of Nations where Nigeria became African Champions for the first time in 19 years.
