King-Queens win Lokoja College Female Volleyball Tourney

After recording an emphatic victory in three straight sets, the Kings and Queens Model College, Lokoja has won the maiden Inter-Private Secondary Schools Female Volleyball Championship in Lokoja, Kogi state concluded recently.

The Championship that saw the winners Kings and Queens College clinically smashing past fellow finalists, Freedom Faith Academy of Lokoja to hoist the coveted trophy.

The third place was nicked by Arigbede College Lokoja after 2 sets win over Baptist High School.

It would be recalled that six private secondary schools which includes: Kings and Queens College; Baptist High School; Freedom Faith Academy; Arigbede College; Salem International College and Scintillate Model School, all in Lokoja.

Speaking to sports writers, the organiser and Chief Executive Officer of Dream Queens Volleyball Club, Lokoja, Mr Yusuf Aliyu Musa said that the championship was initiated to scout for young sports talents at the grassroot, most importantly for Volleyball.

Musa explained that his self-sponsored championship was in urge to discover new future World stars by the Catch-Them-Young talent hunt.

While highlight progress recorded so far with the championship, he indicated that three female Volleyball players have been drafted into the state team that participated in the upcoming National Youth Games next month though crashed out in the play-offs.

The former Volleyball player and talents builder however advocated the supports of well-to-do individuals, agencies and government at all levels to sponsor tournaments capable of discovering more sports talents.

The tournament was staged between 4th- 8th November 2013 in Lokoja and anticipated annual event.
