Prince (Hon) Dominic Ogbodo, Acting Chairman – Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Ogori Magongo LGA, received about a hundred returning members of the party, who said they can no longer remain in the All Progressive Congress over what he described as its lack lustry performance since coming on board.

This is happening on the heels of the recent judgment of the Supreme court, which affirmed Senator Ahmed Makarfi as Chairman of PDP has been described as victory over impunity, that will edge out the ruling APC in the country and State’s from government.

The returning Members, Ogbodo, said left the party after the party lost the governorship election in 2015 in the state, but now described the present administration, under Gov Yahaya Bello in the state as clueless and wouldn’t be able to stand the confidence of the people to get another term in office.

The returning members, Ogbodo added said that their return is influenced by the fact that rather than have improved living standards in their welfare, the APC administration both at the National and the state had impoverished them, said it was better they return to a party that has the welfare of the people at heart.

According to Ogbodo, the unfolding events in the nation with the Supreme Court Ruling prompted the members to return, said Gov. Bello, has failed in all ramification, disclosing that the state under the current dispensation, lacks direction”.

The PDP Chairman added that the recent the Supreme Court verdict that affirmed the victory of Senator Makarfi led PDP Caretaker Committee over the Senator Ali Amodu Sheriff led faction in a legal tussle that had threatened the stability of the party, is the tonic the party is cashing on to woe back all its members who had left.
Ogbodo, said reconciliation is on going to bring back more members to the fold, plead for forgiveness and understanding from those who feel offended, saying that the party has learned it lessons, and will make the people supreme in all its affairs.
The Chairman said, “We the entire members of PDP Ogori/Magongo Local Government Council in Kogi State congratulates the Senator Makarfi led Caretaker Committee for their tenacity and believe in the rule of law, said the Supreme Court judgement has also no doubt equally rekindles the hope of Nigerians in the judiciary as an institution. No doubt daunting challenges lay ahead of PDP but the new leadership must rise up to the task and promptly reposition PDP to renew and sustain the confidence of Nigerians making it the foremost preferred party and will work to deepen internal democracy and prevent impunity.
It must reposition to accommodate other faction giving them a sense of belonging, it must also promote a robust platform that will sustain its ideology so as to make the party attractive to the electorate in 2019 general election.
We once again congratulate all PDP members for the victory and we urge all Nigerians to support the Senator Makarfi led PDP, urging him to deploy his vast political network, sagacity and experience in repositioning the party.
