Kogi APC Calls for Jega Resignation over Anambra Poll Flaws

As a result of the inability of the Independent Electoral commission to conduct a successful governorship election in Anambra state, the Chairman of the Commission, Dr Attairu Jega has admonished to resign his position as the nation election boss.apc

An All progressive Congress chieftain in the North central of Nigeria and a two term former Governor of Kogi state, Prince Abubaker Audu made the clarion call last Thursday in Lokoja the Kogi state capital.

The new Saraki of Kogi politics described the Anambra governorship election as the worst and the most fraudulent election ever conducted by the commission in the history of Nigeria polity.

He said the ruling party was able to put into practice all their previous rigging formula since the inception of democratic rules in Nigeria.

‘ I have never heard of supplementary election before in anal of election in the world but Jega is proposing another election manipulation formula in supplementary election he should quit since he can not control the affair of the commission again”.

He condemned in totality INEC activities in conducting what he called frauds in Supplementary election.

He described the recent merger of the members of the New peoples Democratic Party into the All Progressive Congress as new beginning for the nation democracy.

He said the five governors that joined All Progressive Congress are adjudged in Nigeria and the international political council as true democratic that deserve to be addressed as patriotic Nigerians.

He specifically singled out the poltical leaders of Kwara state Dr Abubaker Saraki and Aliyu Wamako of Sokoto state for leading their people to join the progressives.

Earlier members of All progressive Congress (APC) Kogi state Chapter joined the nationwide peaceful protest against the Independent National Electoral Commission from conducting supplementary governorship election in Anambra state saying that supplementary election is unconstitutional.

The APC loyalists in their hundreds have earlier gathered at the party Secretariat with brooms and placards with different inscriptions.

The party members, who sang the first stanza of the National Anthem, called for total cancellation of Anambra state governorship election and stated there was nothing like supplementary election the electoral law.

Some inscriptions on the placards read thus, “we call for cancellation of Anambra state governorship election. No Jaga jaga Election 2015, We say no to election rigging.”

As the protesters were set to commence their demonstration at the secretariat of the party and set out to storm the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in the state before they were stopped by the men of the state police command.

The law security agents subsequently cordoned off the headquarters of INEC in the state, with heavy security presence, thereby giving no room for the opposition to invade the area.

A chieftain of APC in the state and former chairman of the defunct Action Congress Of Nigeria in the state, Alhaji Haddy Ametuo while speaking to newsmen strongly condemned the poll in Anambra, alleging that the electoral umpire was out to kill democracy.

He said there is no provision for supplementary election in the constitution, and called for total cancellation of the Anambra governorship poll.
