Kogi Assembly Leader,Yakubu, wants for military base in Ofu LG

The majority leader Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Yakubu Yunusa has appealed to Kogi State Government to liaise with the Federal Government to enable a permanent military base at Ejule in Ofu Local Government area (LGA) of the state to curb criminal activities.

Yunusa said, the issue of youth restiveness and thuggery in Ejule town has remained unabated, despite all efforts by the State and Local government at controlling the trend.

He said captain Idris Wada, the state governor, has been able to curtail youth restiveness in the 21 LGAs of the state but the youths in Ejule have remained stubborn. “Activities of some youths in Ejule has caused a lot of havoc and worries in the entire LGA and even the state”, he said.

Hon Yunusa expressed disappointment that, “Ejule has illustrious son, daughters and elders ; some of whom are army generals and police chiefs, who would have assisted the state government to curb the activities of the youths. But it is unfortunate that each time I try to collaborate with them, I get a lot of frustration from them”.

Another great challenge of security agents who try to arrest hoodlums in the town, he said, is that the people do not help the police in solving the problem.

He commended the governor and the state commissioner of police for acting promptly in rescuing the Onu Ejule, Chief Simon Shaibu, who was kidnapped by the hoodlums in the town.

He condemned the recent ritual killing of a girl, a native of Ojuwo-Olijo town, and urged the police to continue their thorough investigation so as to bring all the culprits to book.
