Mathew Kolawole, lawmaker representing Kabba/Bunu constituency in the Kogi state house of assembly, says peace has returned to the assembly.

Kolawole, who is the majority leader said unlike the past when there was division, the lawmakers are ready to support Yahaya Bello, governor of the state.

He said some persons were plotting to cause disaffection between the legislative and executive arms of government, but said such plans will fail.

“My attention has been drawn to a press release purportedly attributed to my humble self. In the statement, I was said to have described some actions of the executive governor of Kogi state, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, as “illegal.”, the statement read.

“I, Honourable Mathew Kolawole, representing the great people of Kabba/Bunu Constituency, hereby deny that statement in its entirety

“I call on all media organisations, my Honourable colleagues and all Kogites to ignore the statement.

The Kogi state house of assembly has resolved to shelf all the differences and challenges it had faced in the past to work together in unison with the executive and the judiciary.

“We are, for the first time, united in purpose behind the new direction agenda of Mr. Governor. And, as one of the proponents of peace in my state, I would be the last person to release such a statement capable of hurting the nascent peace we as Kogi state legislators are currently enjoying.

“As a loyal servant of my people, I will always be on the side of unity and progress. I wish to assure the governor of my unalloyed support of his programmes for our dear state.”
