Kogi-born athlete to race in 2014 ICPC/Spalsh FM marathon

A Kogi-born athlete named Aderonke Olumudi will participate in the female category of this year’s edition of the ICPC/Splash FM marathon race in Ibadan.
Olumudi, who hailed from Kogi State, will make her fourth appearance at the 6th edition of the marathon race scheduled for this Sunday, March 23rd at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium.
SavidNews gathered that the Kogi-born athlete who is been chased by Rivers, Delta and Oyo for the 2014 National Sports Festival in Calabar is in search for her first gold after managing to finish twice as runners-up and in third place on her debut – all in her last three consecutive appearance.
It will be recalled Aderonke Olumudi only missed out for the first position finishing behind Pam in the female category for silver but ahead of Elizabeth Nuhu in third.
However, Olumudi, who was the runner-up in the female category also emerged the 2nd overall best in the Obudu mountain race held in November 2012.
According to Chief Adebayo Akande, the Chief Executive Officer of Splash FM, a world record of 2hrs, 10mins for the 42km race is to be broken during this edition would be an international event, adding that it would feature notable international athletes.
