Kogi First Lady, Halima Wada distributes food Items to 100 less privileged in Kogi West

At least one hundred widows,orphans and disabled benefited from the distribution of the food items donated by wife of Kogi State Governor, Hajia Halima Wada at the the third-phase lunch of her Food Outreach for Widows, Orphans and Disabled(FOWOD) programme in Kogi West.

Wife of the Governor flagged-off the third phase of the Food Outreach for Widows,Orphans and Disabled (FOWOD) through her pet project Kogi Women Empowerment Network (KOWEN) on Friday in Kabba Bunnu Local Government of Kogi State.

While Distributing the food items to the beneficiaries, Hajia Halima Wada said the program is the continuation of the Food outreach Flag offs at Ajaokuta the central senatorial District and Olamaboro in the Eastern Senatorial District Respectively.

She said the program (FOWOD) is mainly to alleviate the plight of the Widows,orphans and the disabled, calling on well meaning individuals to give back to the society and do the needful to uplift the vulnerable in the society.

Describing farming as one of the major occupation of the rural dwellers in Kogi and Nigeria at Large enjoins the people of the west to explore the various means of improving on the occupation in order to keep hunger at bah and improve the well being of the people.

She thanked the people of the area for their over whelming support during the last election in the state and calling on them to continue to support the present administration adding that the best is yet to come.

She commended Governor Idris Wada for creating an enabling environment for KOWEN projects to strive in the state and the chairman Kabba Bunnu Local Government for the successful hosting of the program.

Speaking at the occasion the wife of the Deputy Governor Mrs Tokunbo Awoniyi while enumerating the achievements of KOWEN noted that the project no doubt has promoted entrepreneurship and financial independence for women in the state.

While commending the wife of the Governor for her laudable projects which is aimed at alleviating the surffering of the less privileged in the society said she is optimistic that the people of the area will continue to support the present administration in its transformation agenda.

Also speaking Mrs. Patience Mameh the commissioner for Women affairs and social development thanked the Governor Capt. Idriss Wada for supporting the program across the twenty one Local Government area of the state.

The commissioner who described the wife of the governor as a mother to all urged her not to relent in her selfless service to humanity.
