Kogi NDE disburses loans to 100, recharge card vendors, Akara sellers

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE)in Kogi hasaafrica still sufferr said it has disbursed N20,000 each to 100 recharge card vendors and beans-cake (Akara) sellers under its Micro-Enterprises Enhancement Loan Scheme.

Mallam Abdulkadir Oba-Sa’adu, Kogi Director of the directorate who disclosed that the beneficiaries were drawn from the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

Oba’Sadu said the scheme was aimed at enhancing the capacity of micro-business operators to expand and remain in business “As they lack the required collateral security to access loans from financial institutions.

He said that the scheme was part of government’s efforts to reduce unemployment through soft loans to the beneficiaries including soft drink and pure water vendors as well as food vendors and the likes.

The director urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the loan to expand their businesses and advance to the next level saying: “The success of their businesses will increase their self-worth, self confidence and their ability to employ others.”

Also speaking, Mr Jibrin Aye, Director, Small Scale Enterprises Development Department at the NDE headquarters in Abuja, reiterated the determination of the directorate to fashion out more job-creation schemes to reduce poverty and unemployment to the barest minimum.

He said that the scheme had been replicated in all the states of the federation including the FCT and implored other stakeholders to collaborate with the NDE to create more jobs for the teeming unemployed Nigerians.
