Kogi Prison Break: Comptroller Missing As Gov Bello Blasts Authority’s Complacency

Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello has accused authorities of the Nigeria Prisons Service of complicity in the escape of about 13 prisoners on Friday.

The Governor stated this after his inspection visit to the Koton-Karfi Prisons where the break took place.

The Governor who on arrival did not meet the Comptroller of Prison and other senior officers of the Service when he
arrived, put a call through to the Comptroller, who could not give a satisfactory answer over his failure to be on grounds when the governor arrived.

The Governor said this left much to be desired especially with earlier information sent to the prison that the governor would be visiting the scene of the prison break.

Jailbreak has become a common occurrence in the state.

The Governor said the action of the prison authorities pose serious security threats to the state which is already burdened by incessant kidnap cases.
