Kogi Speaker, Momoh Jimoh appeals to health workers to shelve strike action

The Kogi State House of Assembly has called on striking health workers in the 21 Local Governments Areas of the state to sheath the swords in the interest of the people.

Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Momoh Jimoh Lawal made the appeal while adopting a motion at the chamber of the House on the issue.

Hon. Lawal urged the local government council chairmen in the state to find lasting solution to the current crisis in the health sector so that the ordinary people in the affected areas do not suffer.

The Speaker also said the continued closure of the health facilities could jeopardize the transformation agenda of the state government. He thus referred the matter to the House Committee on Health billed to meet stakeholders in the state on the crisis.

The health workers’ strike was occasioned by the non-payment of salaries of health workers in the state.
