Kogi to host 19 Northern States in 2013 Polio Annual Seminar

Kogi Deputy Governor,Mr yomi Awoniyi has announced that the state government was delighted in hosting the annual seminar on polio come Sept 24.

The Deputy Governor commended the State ministry of health for successfully waging war against polio in the state.

Awoniyi,who disclosed this during an interactive session on polio eradication and routine immunization,held by the ministry of health at Government house Lokoja,on Thursday.

He noted that the state had been free of polio since 2009,urging every citizens to live up to that status.

Awoniyi,commended parents in the state,saying that their prompt response to giving their children necessary vaccinations has helped the state in achieving this height.

He noted that eradicating polio in the state finally was at it last stage,while urging all local government chairmen to continue to promote polio awareness in their various vicinity.

Awoniyi,commended the UNICEF,WHO and Rotary organization in their assistance and joint partnership in eradicating polio in the state.

He disclosed that the state would continue to pay its counterparts funding to the various organizations who have been of assistance to eradicating polio in the state.

Earlier in his speech,the commissioner for health Dr idris Omede,who was represented by Dr Segun Aliu ,commended the state government for its prompt response in releasing funds towards polio eradication in the state.

He noted that the ministry with the assistance of the state government had gone far in making sure that polio was a thing of the past.

Aliu,disclosed that they would continue to put in more efforts at making sure that the state was totally free from all diseases,while thanking the state Governor Idris Wada for his unrelenting efforts towards the health sector.
