Kogi U16 3-1 Sokoto U16: GYB boys cruise into 2017 Ramat Cup semifinal

Kogi State U16 boys cruised into the semi-final of the ongoing 2017 Ramat Cup following a 3-1 quarter-final bashing of their Sokoto State counterparts on Thursday morning in Kano.

Goals from Abdulrasak Ahmed, Yaro Bawa and Bala Mohammed helped the Adamu Isah’s side overcame their northern opponents at the Kano Pillars Stadium.

The Lokoja based boys had reached the last eight after cruising past Rivers State 3-1, drew 1-1 with Bauchi and overcame Lagos 1-0 to finish atop of their group.

The six-day Late General Muritala Muhammed Ramat Cup organised by the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria is currently competed for among 22 states, with Kano, Ogun, Kogi, Kastina, Sokoto, Taraba, Kaduna and Jigawa making it to the quarterfinals.

The GYB boys will know their opponents before the close of the day with the last four matches scheduled for Friday.

Meanwhile, an elated National President of YSFON Nasiru Gawuna has lauded the massive turnout at the competition, saying the development would help to attract sponsors to the championship in the future.

Gawuna, who doubles as the Kano State Commissioner for Agriculture, said he was happy with the quality of the teams at the tournament, which ends on Saturday.
