Speaking yesterday, November 18, at the grand finale of the APC campaign rally in Lokoja, the state capital, Osinbajo called on people of Kogi state to stay back to defend their votes in the Saturday governorship election, The Punch reports.
The vice president urged the people of Kogi state to vote the party’s candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu.
His words: “Join the train of change as the captain of the present ship in the state is currently asleep.”
Also addressing the mammoth crowd at the rally, the party governorship candidate Audu said the PDP government in the state had completely ruined the state as civil servants, local government workers as well as pensioners hardly get paid.
Audu however vowed to clear the backlog of salary arrears and effect promotion of workers if elected in the Saturday poll.
The PDP had alleged that the presidency, the INEC and some security forces are joining forces to rig the upcoming Kogi governorship elections in favour of the APC.
However, reacting to these allegation, Malam Garba Shehu, the president’s senior special assistant on media and publicity, denied the claim, saying that it would accept the outcome of the election.
The two leading candidate going into the Kogi election, Governor Idris Wada of the PDP and Audu Abubakar of the APC have clashed on several occasions.
Audu has promised the people of the state that he will revive the moribund Ajaokuta Steel Rolling company if he gets their mandate.
While Wada has warned against a vote for Audu, saying it will drag the state backto the dark days.
The Kogi state governorship election is scheduled to be held this Saturday, November 21.
