The National Conscience Party (NCP) has announced it will not sell the expression of interest and nomination forms to party members aspiring to participate in the governorship elections in Bayelsa and Kogi states.
National chairman of the party, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, told our correspondent yesterday in an exclusive interview that the party was working to field candidates in the two elections.
“We are not selling forms to aspirants. The expression of interest and nomination forms will be given to our members free. But we can get donations from our candidates. That will help the course of the party.
“We believe our party is a party which has strong belief in giving our members the opportunity to contest elections based on credibility,” he also said.
The party expressed readiness to accept the results of the elections conducted under the present Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) boss, Mrs Amina Zakari, stressing that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) rejection of the commission’s boss was not fair. The NCP, which asked the PDP to resolve its internal crisis in the interest of democracy, added that Amina Zakari who had paid her dues was eminently qualified to head the commission.
