#KogiGovRace: No automatic ticket for Capt Wada, other aspirants – PDP

Ahead of the governorship election in Kogi State, the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday declared that there is no automatic ticket for the governor, Capt. Idris Wada.
The party stated this while declaring that the guber primary will hold on September 10. The party also said sale and return of expression on interest form will begin August 17 and end on August 24. The election is billed in hold on November 21.

Addressing a press conference after the weekly National Working Committee (NWC), the national organising secretary of the party, Abubakar Mustapha, assured that there will be no imposition of candidates during their primaries.

He said “we are ready to conduct credible, free and fair primaries to select credible candidate. There will be no imposition of candidate. People will be put to man the system to see that it is free, fair and credible.”

He outrightly said “no” when asked if the party would offer automatic ticket to the incumbent governors.

In further breakdown of the activities ahead of the election in the state, screening of candidates will be on August 27, and screening appeal will hold on August 29.

Ward congress for election of 3 adhoc delegates will be on September 3, while ward congresses appeal will hold on September 5.

Gubernatorial election appeals is scheduled for September 12.

With regards to Edo State, Mustapha stated that the party in the state has notified the national secretariat that the ward, local govenment and state executive of the party will expire in September 1.

He therefore revealed that ward election will hold on September 10; local government election on September 17 and state election on September 24.
