Kogi’s Ojo Leke shines, Akinjide Idowu scores in Flying Eagles 10-0 Friendly win

Nigeria U-20 side defeated Highlanders 10-0 in a friendly match played in Kaduna on Friday.

A brace from captain Musa Muhammed and Samuel Mathias ensured the Flying Eagles continued their unbeaten run Mustapha Abdullahi, Billy Auta, Nafiu Kabuga, Akinjide Idowu, Israel Emmanuel and Jacob Njoku completing the rout.

Highlanders began on a brighter note as they struck the Flying Eagles cross bar after five minutes before Manu’s boys responded with the curtain raiser courtesy Mathias in the eight minute.

Captain Muhammed doubled his side’s the lead twelve minutes later off a low cross from Mustapha Abdullahi.

Auta made 3-0 in the 28th minute before Muhammed completed his brace in the 50 minutes with a splendid free kick while Mathias put the team four goals up thirteen minutes later.

Goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo saved a penalty awarded Highlanders in the 78th minute, before fullback Mustapha Abdullahi continued his rich vein of form in front of goal with a sixth goal for the Nigeria U20s when he capitalised on a defensive blunder.

In 85th minute, Abdullahi Alfa missed a penalty after the goalkeeper fouled a goal-bound Mathias.

There were also late goals by Kabuga, Israel Emmanuel, Akinjide Idowu and FC Porto midfielder Jacob Njoku.

The Flying Eagles will now go on Christmas break to resume the regroup for the second phase of camping on December 27 with eight foreign players expected to join the team.
