Lagos offer free bus ride to residents to mark Eid-el-Fitr
The Lagos State government provided free bus ride to residents of the commercial city on Friday in celebration of Eid-el-Fitr that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) Dayo Mobereola said in a statement that the free bus ride would, in particular, enable Muslims to have easy access to different praying centres across the state.
The free bus service ran for 13 hours starting at 7a.m. local time.
This will be the sixth consecutive year that the free bus ride will be provided by the state government, and the LAMATA boss said the service had helped in reducing congestion and accident on the roads during festive periods.
