Lagos to Increase Water Rates for effective supply

water supplyLagos State Water Corporation has disclosed that it would soon increase water rates for effective supply to the people of the State.

The General Manager of the corporation, Engr. Shayo Holloway disclosed this when the Nigerian Union of Journalists, News Agency of Nigeria chapel paid the corporation a courtesy visit at its Ijora headquarters in Lagos.

Holloway said the major problem facing the corporation is water theft that has engulfed every region in the state and it is causing damages to the water pipes which most times lead to spillage on the roads as well as inadequate water supply to their customers. He also stated that the State has inaugurated a special court to try water thieves.

He said the major water works embarked on by the State are the ones at Iju, Adiyan and Isashi which are the bedrock of the water system in the State and these locations are servicing the major parts of the State.

The Chairman of NUJ, Mr. Tayo Ikujimi appreciated the efforts of Engr.Shayo Holloway and his management team, saying that as partners in progress, the Nigerian Union of Journalist is set to bridge the gap between the public and the corporation. He assured them that the body will continue to assist the corporation in projecting her image and bridge the gap between the Corporation and its publics.
