LG Polls: Plateau State to hold Election in December
The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission has scheduled the conduct of the local government elections in the State for December 7, 2013.
The Chairman of the State’s electoral body, Peter Dalyop disclosed this recently at the commission’s office in Jos, during a press briefing; adding that the electoral activities would commence with the issuance of the notice of elections on September 2, 2013.
Peter Dalyop said that sometime ago the people of the State were informed that the Plateau State Electoral Commission was preparing for the local government elections in the State. He also explained that the commission has established some platforms for a smooth conduct of the elections.
“The commission has also worked out a timetable which has not been released due to the unstable security situation in the State. However, the report in the current security advice has revealed that the security atmosphere in the State is now conducive for the conduct of the forthcoming Local Government elections”, he pointed.
He also averred that the guidelines regulating the conduct of the elections have been drawn up and would soon be released to the political parties and other interested individuals in the State.
