The League Management Company (LMC) has put on hold the Bayelsa United’s Match Day 8 fixture with hosts, Kano Pillars, earlier billed for Wednesday, April 23rd.npl

The LMC said the decision was to enable the country’s representatives in the CAF Confederations Cup prepare adequately for the return leg clash with Ivorian side, Sewe Sports in Sapele.

“We are mindful of the travel constraints of having to arrive Nigeria on Monday, travelling to Kano and returning to Sapele to host the return leg by weekend,” the LMC Chief Operating Officer, Salihu Abubakar said via its website.

“The LMC wants Nigeria’s only surviving representative on continental club competition to succeed and they will need to prepare adequately and focus on the task of cancelling out the two goals deficit,”

He said the LMC will in the days ahead announce a date for the rescheduled fixture and assured that the postponement of the match will not cause any schedule disruptions to the season.

“It is consistent with our responsibility to ensure the organization of a competitive league and give our clubs fair opportunity to compete,” he concluded

Bayelsa United were beaten 2-0 last Sunday by the Ivorian League Champions in the first leg if they must progress to the Group phase of the 2014 CAF Confederations Cup.

It would be recalled that the Restoration Boys’ match Day 7 fixture against Enyimba FC was also put on hold by the LMC to enable them travel to Abidjan for the continental clash with Sewe Sports.
