Messi Admits Considering Saudi Move

Lionel Messi has acknowledged he weighed up joining Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League before signing for Inter Miami, according quotes in reports.

The 36-year-old Argentine star told Time “It is also true that later I was thinking a lot about going to the Saudi league, where I know the country and they have created a very powerful competition.”

After leaving Paris Saint-Germain, Messi’s “first option was to return to Barcelona, but it was not possible.” He said choosing between “Saudi Arabia or MLS, and both options seemed very interesting.”

Ultimately the former Ballon d’Or winner opted for a fresh challenge in Major League Soccer instead of the lucrative Saudi league.

His admission sheds light on alternative destinations considered prior to making Inter Miami his new club as a free agent last summer.
